Ford embarked on a solo heavy metal career after the disbandment of her band in 1979. She began taking voice lessons before releasing her first album 'Dancin' on the Edge'. Both the albums did not get much attention, and Ford disappeared from the rock world for a couple of years. The hit album Lita was released in 1989, was the catalyst that led to her reemergence. Kiss Me Deadly was her biggest hit, as were the ballad Close My Eyes Forever and Kiss Me Deadly. She disappeared from the world of music for several years following her sluggish popularity. The release of "Black" in 1995 was followed by "Wicked Wonderland', which came out nearly 15 years later. In 2016, her most recent album, 'Time Capsule'' was released.
